AI built into the workspace where your notes and projects live.

Last verified: April 2026

What is Notion AI?

Notion AI uses Anthropic and OpenAI models behind the scenes. The major product evolution: Notion 3.3 (released February 2026) added Custom Agents, letting teams build specialized AI workflows inside Notion. AI Agents (which can autonomously execute multi-step tasks across your workspace) launched in September 2025. Ask Notion queries your entire workspace plus connected sources like Google Drive and Slack.

Pricing (April 2026)

Important change in early 2026: Notion discontinued the standalone AI add-on for Free and Plus plans. AI features are now bundled only in Business and Enterprise tiers. Existing add-on subscribers keep their access.

  • Free: Unlimited pages for personal use, limited AI trial only.
  • Plus — $10-12/user/month: Unlimited blocks, unlimited file uploads, limited AI trial.
  • Business — $20-24/user/month: Full AI access including AI Agents and Ask Notion. Private teamspaces, bulk PDF exports, 90-day history, advanced analytics.
  • Enterprise — custom pricing: SSO, stronger data controls, audit logs, dedicated support.

Annual billing saves 17-20% across paid tiers.

Who Notion AI Is For

Teams that want one tool for notes, tasks, docs, and databases. Knowledge workers managing lots of information across sources.

What We Love: The Pros

  • Workspace + AI in one tool replaces 3-5 separate apps
  • Ask Notion searches your entire workspace plus connected apps
  • AI Agents (Sept 2025) automate multi-step tasks
  • Custom Agents (Notion 3.3, Feb 2026) let teams build specialized workflows
  • Excellent mobile apps
  • Massive template library and community

The Honest Cons

  • AI is now Business-tier only ($20-24/user/month) — significantly more expensive than before
  • Learning curve is real; takes a week or two to feel natural
  • Complex workspaces can become performance-sluggish
  • Free tier no longer includes meaningful AI access

Our Verdict

If you already use Notion daily, the Business plan at $20-24/user/month unlocks genuinely useful AI — Ask Notion alone pays for itself. But if you’re an individual user, the pricing increase (AI no longer available on Plus) has made alternatives like ClickUp AI more attractive. Try the free tier first, and only commit to Business if you’ll use the AI Agents.
